For Bryan!
Just this year, they won the 2019 Golden Halo Award in the Consumer Donation/ Crowdfunding Division, which held them in the same steads of Google, Apple, and the like. They got this award for their donation of about 6.1 million dollars, which was distributed between 21 nonprofits around the world through their Dark Star Cho’Gath Campaign. Yet all this started in 2017 with Riot only really wanting to breathe life into the dreams of a fellow league player Bryan.
Bryan was a rather devoted player of League, but towards the end of 2016, he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer. Towards the March of 2017, Bryan was able to come to Riot Headquarters in California through the Make a Wish Foundation with a simple wish “to meet the creators of Riot Games and create a skin with them!”. He worked together with the creators to make exclusive skin to commemorate his visit to Riot. So Together they brainstormed ideas and eventually created a skin for his favorite champion Cho’Gath.
Yet as they slowly got to the end, the creators were rather pleased with this new skin they created. As such, they decided to allow other player to buy it for a limited time. In return, all proceeds from the sale of this skin would be distributed to various nonprofits across the world. This event showed how given the chance League player and gamers can come together to achieve incredible things.
